"I started writing when I was about thirteen, on my little Casio keyboard. Back then, I had no idea about chords and song structure but i just tried to emulate what i was hearing on the radio."
Carrie soon discovered more about singing and songwriting when she attented the University of Miami school of music and studied jazz voice. She was exposed to so many types of music and so many talented fellow students.
In 2000, Carrie won second place in the prestigious John Lennon songwriting competition and received a $2500 scholarship. In January of 2004, 2005 and 2006 she was invited to the regional round of the USA network's "Nashville Star". She is the only contestant to have made the regional round three years in a row. Although she didn't get a spot on the show, she considers it a great experience.
"I met so many talented and amazing people and got to make connections with some of the contestants who made it on the show. It was fun and nerve-racking at the same time, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat- even if i never get on the show!"
Carrie iss surrently recording a four song demo in hopes that she will be able to gain some financial assistance in recording a full length album in Nashville. Please take a moment to listen to a few of her original songs at the link on the right.
NEWS UPDATE- Carrie just finished her fourth audition for Nashville Star and is awaiting news about the upcoming regionals at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville on November 1, 2 and 3rd. Check back for updates!
